Carte-de-Visite, studio J.Beard in Bath.
North Somerset Yeomanry Trooper.

It is quite interesting to note first that J.Beard apparently operated his studio at 8, Old Bond Street from 1868 to 1872.
As a matter of fact, this gives us a better insight into understanding that photograph.

This Trooper is wearing the Light Dragoon pattern tunic, with five rows of braiding (that would be replaced by a model with 6 rows by the late 1870s).
We will note that the cuffs appear to be scarlet.

The helmet is still of the old pattern, with black horesehair plume - a model with white horsehair plume reputedly having been introduced in 1856.
