13th Hussars

Group of NCOs and Other Ranksof the 13th Hussars and 12th Lancers in Aldershot c.1862-63

The Hussars are fitted with the tall early Busby pattern.

The 13th Hussars' facing colour is buff - that actually turned out to be white. Their busby bag and collar are thus white - as the feather is. The trousers still only wear one (white) stripe ; that would be changed in 1864.

The 13th had been stationned in England since May 1856 (they did not take part in the Indian Mutiny fights). It may therefore be supposed that some of the Hussars are sporting Crimean medals and may even be Light Chargers.
